About

Waves Therapy provides trauma counselling, supervision and training in South WalEs.

Welcome to Waves Therapy - providing warm, friendly and professional therapeutic services. My passion is supporting survivors of trauma and staff in the helping professions who are affected by work-related trauma. My services help reduce the negative impact of trauma by providing space for reflection, healing and psycho-education. I am registered with the BACP, and provide all my services within their framework and code of conduct.

Waves Therapy supports peoplE in three different ways:

1-1 in-person and remote counselling for people impacted by trauma (whether their own or others’). I help with issues such as shame, panic and mistrust.

I work with a wide range of topics including adoption, modern day slavery and historic abuse.

I offer outdoor ‘walk and talk’ therapy as well as indoor based counselling.

Clinical supervision for counsellors working in the field of trauma. Available both in-person and remote (online) sessions.

I offer outdoor supervision sessions, for counsellors who wants to bring nature into their therapeutic work.

Organisational training sessions on trauma-related topics.

I help staff understand the impact of distressing events on themselves and others, and establishing support systems to safeguard against burn out.

Meet CatE

Hi I'm Cate. My passion is supporting trauma survivors, helping them heal and move confidentially and safely into a positive future.

I am a parent to both birth and adopted children, and a keen advocate in the world of adoption.

When I'm not working, I love to be outside, walking the coastal path near my house and having a learn-as-I-go approach to gardening. I also really, really love chocolate.

I'd love to help find the right support for you. Why not look through my services page or get in touch to find out more.

‘Cate is a gifted counsellor who has an extraordinary capacity to listen with both empathy and compassion.

Her intelligence and relaxed style promotes an environment where effective self-reflection can flourish.’

I try to involve these considerations as much as possible, to help everyone feel safe, engaged and able to express themselves.

  • I am an integrative counsellor. This means I see everyone as a unique individual and combine a range of therapeutic interventions and approaches that are tailored to that person. This includes CBT, humanistic, psychodynamic and other counselling modalities.
